What happened in the novel

I'm not far into it yet, but I can tell you the answer. 90% of events are different so far.

Novel progresses better and you get some explanations which make this series make more sense.

In novel beginning, he is met by some grave watcher who handily gives him clothes like he already expected someone will revive (even author made a point to note this dude should play later role, yet animation skipped him). Then he lived 1 year in a village as a hunter living simple life where he learned language. He met princess before he meets little dragon (not to mention he meets her master before that as well... who is actually kinda handsome middle aged dude and not some decrepit old guy).

That is just scope of how different are first 2 episodes, you can imagine the rest

As for explanations, one would be his bow and why no one can use it. There were two paths with same end direction... Tao and martial arts and later was extremely rare even before gods fell (Chen Nans family was one). They draw different energy and since bow is martial arts weapon... you can guess

Maybe this would be the trigger for her to wake the F up, and realize her family got some seriously F'd up people in it XD.
